Easy Ways To Determine Your Childs Learning Style If you ever wondered why your child isnât learning the same way other kids (or your own kids) are, then itâs a good thing to be doing something about it. Obviously, not all kids learn the same way. Parents and educators have basically identified three main types of learning, which involves kinesthetic, visual, and auditory. Kinesthetic learners. These are learners that focus on the physical aspect. You will know this if your child has the natural strength that allows him/her to extensively use the body for play or sports, and dance. These learners typically have a strong sense of balance, which allows them to learn best when doing things or touching things themselves. For instance, this type of learner will likely use a lot of gestures or may count on fingers or clap songs while counting. Being early crawlers and walkers are signs as well. Auditory learners. This type of learner learns best through sound. They may usually show a musical aptitude for singing or playing instruments. They are also good listeners and often show verbal strengths. And they can follow oral directions better as well. If as a baby, your child perks up when conversations start, or you notice that the sound of the rain tends to fascinate him/her when other children donât care, or your child better understand when reading books aloud, then you may have a child who learned best by listening. Visual learners. Visual learners are naturally observant about their surroundings and are drawn to art. You can notice this type of learner when they look at paintings, linger over book illustrations, show interest in photographs, etc. Visual learners tend to love screens whether its television, computer, or movie, and they retain the information learned there. Learners of this type also have good memories. If your child exhibits visual learning acuity, he or she may be especially skilled at remembering names, places, and people as well. This is how you will recognize a visual learner. Where to go from here? Start by making a list of your childâs behavior and see which learning style he or she leans to. Once you figured it out, you may start customizing the activities, camps, extracurricular trips, and even the school your child will study in. How To Politely Be A Wallflower At Your Next Company Party If youâre usually a wallflower at parties, you might feel a bit uncomfortable being a wallflower at company parties. It can be especially awkward when you donât want to attend the party but donât want to disappoint your boss (or be seen as weird). If the unspoken pressure to mingle and engage in small talk is overwhelming, hereâs how to be the perfect wallflower at your next corporate party while following party etiquette: Stick with people you know When you arrive at the party, find someone you know and feel comfortable with, and join their conversation. Stick with them as much as possible. If they leave your circle, you donât need to carry on the conversation if you donât want to. Ask other people in the group to share their experiences, so you donât have to do much talking. If your friends disburse, quickly excuse yourself to use the restroom to avoid a long, awkward silence. Should you use a career summary in your resume When presenting a resume to a prospective employer, you are essentially selling yourself. This includes not only selling your qualifications and abilities pertinent to the career you are seeking, but also selling your character, personality, and what makes you unique. Because employers typically have dozens of resumes to weed through before making decisions on which candidates to bring in and interview, they often donât have time to carefully read each and every one. Especially ones with an objective on it (and I am not even going to touch on the subject of objectives right now that could take up another blog post). A well-written summary becomes your very first impression, and should catch the readerâs eye to give you that edge. Your summary should highlight what your employer will find most important: any top skills and abilities you may possess, your best attributes and characteristics that will contribute to the job, and what makes you unique and best suited for the job. Youâll also want to include any experiences that relate to the job and its duties, your goals regarding the position, and what you as an individual can bring to the job or company that nobody else can. Each word and phrase should exude self-confidence in your ability and performance. Because youâre selling yourself, feel free to use many descriptors and keyword action phrases about yourself and your abilities. Try to avoid generic terms such as âgoodâ or âgreatâ, or worse, phrases such as excellent communicator or detail-oriented. For example, if you wish to describe your leadership skills, rather than saying you are a âgreat leaderâ, instead state that youâre a leader because youre a turnaround champion or product eva ngelist and then follow up with a brief summary why. Bring a previous experience in to back up your statement. Colorful words are a good way to make a fast impression, but it is even better to back those colorful words up with an action zinger or actual background. Leave no room for doubt in your skills. Resume summaries are typically written in two different styles: paragraph or bulleted. When using paragraph format, be sure to keep it no more than 4-5 lines long, as you donât want to seem long-winded and lose the interest of the reader. These lines will typically be a listing of the qualifications you possess that will make a lasting positive impact on the employer. I usually follow that up with a bulleted keyword list to grab the readers attention. When using bulleted style, you simply take those same lines and put them in bullets. You donât necessarily have to have complete sentences when using bullets, though you can if you want to. Bulleted styles are not a way I do very often, but Ive seen them done from time to time and they look really great. Remember that when writing your summary, you donât want to overload it with every single qualification and ability you possess. You want to showcase the ones that stand out the most to grab the readerâs attention and make him or her want to read the rest of your resume. Be sure you closely proofread your summary when it is complete, as even the most basic writing skills can make a negative impression if there are errors present. Write your article in first person present tense, as though you are saying I Offer full scale project management expertise, just dont actually use the personal pronouns. With a well-written, concise summary, you should be successful in catching the interest of any prospective employer.
